Meet Michael Stello

Meet the Founding Senior Partner
I became a lawyer because I wanted to help people navigate some of the hardest moments of their lives. Legal issues can feel overwhelming, confusing, and deeply personal, especially in family court matters. My goal has always been to help clients understand what they are facing, develop a sound strategy, and move forward with confidence.
I grew up in Charleston and have always considered the Lowcountry home. After graduating from the Honors College at the College of Charleston, I attended the Charleston School of Law and began building a practice focused on serving individuals and families throughout South Carolina.
Before law school, I worked in construction as a licensed residential builder and owned a construction company. That experience still shapes the way I practice law today. I learned the value of hard work, practical problem-solving, and treating people with honesty and respect. I also understand what it means to build something from the ground up and the stress that uncertainty can place on individuals and families.
Clients often tell me they appreciate my calm demeanor, practical advice, and strategic approach to difficult situations. I believe one of the most important parts of my job is helping clients understand complex legal issues in a way that is straightforward and manageable. I never want clients to feel intimidated by the legal process or uncertain about where their case stands.
As a certified Family Court mediator, I strongly believe many disputes can and should be resolved through thoughtful negotiation whenever possible. While I am always prepared to advocate aggressively when necessary, I also understand the emotional and financial cost of prolonged litigation. I work hard to help clients find practical, durable solutions that protect their future and their families.
Outside of the office, I enjoy traveling with my family to Costa Rica, cooking, fishing, and spending time in my workshop working on woodworking projects that never seem to get completely finished. Those interests help keep me grounded and remind me that, at the end of the day, most clients are simply looking for stability, peace of mind, and the opportunity to move forward with their lives.
